Every year the organization, that I am assisting, has to raise money since government and corporate funding has always been insufficient to cover the programs for assisting persons with disabilities find suitable employment.
Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you.
You can also consider to turn the organisation into a social enterprise and shift the focus away from fundraising to service delivery. Think about products or services that could be sold in order to bring in some income, that could in turn be used to support the programmes in some way.

Is there anyone out here who has a soccer team or manages the financial activities of a small non-profit organization? I volunteer for one as a treasurer and we have about $80,000/year in revenue which we use to cover sicounted events for employees of the company.
Right now, we have no officially recognized status as a non-profit; we do not have annual audits; or have tax returns file.
With such little monies annually, do you think it is necessary?
What are the pros and cons of becoming a 501c3 nonprofit corporation?
What are the consequences or risks of non filing as a 501c3 non profit corporation?
Sorry for that very bad typo: "discounted events".
I don’t really know first-hand but here is a website that may provide some answers about nonprofits: http://www.snpo.org

I have heard that a corporation managing an LLC is best and provides the most protection. I don’t know which corporate structure as I need insurance and want to fund retirement programs for myself and my wife as well. I will be trading my own account with my own money and do have someone that can be an officer in the organization with me. No shares are needed unless they benefit me in some way. Thank you for your wisdom in advance.
Unless you will be trading on behalf of others you do not require the double protection of two entities. An S-Corporation to pass the gains and losses directly to yourself would be fine and you would be shielded from liability. If you want a separate tax vehicle, a standard C-Corporation or LLC will suffice.
I’m the president of a new student organization in the business discipline and I am trying to get corporate sponsors so that we can have more operating capital. There are some obvious things I can provide, like a Resume CD, but what are some other benefits that I can offer through my group?
Advertising – company name displayed on a banner or all publications. Business depend on name recognition so the more places (good places) it is seen the better. That is how the basketball team pays for their game programs – all those business card "ads" scattered on the pages. A press release is also an underused type of advertising. You call the local paper – this is small town stuff – to announce that XYZ company is sponsoring the BFD club at IOU high school thus allowing the BFD club to further the development of it’s members yadda yadda.
Organizations Annual Fly-In Makes Golden Age Come Alive for Enthusiasts
Founded in August of 1953 by Robert L. Taylor, the Antique Aircraft Association is the worlds oldest organization specifically devoted to antique and classic aircraft. Committed to keep the antiques flying, the AAA has dedicated its fifty-six years to the preservation of this Golden Age of Aviation. AAA members have access to the organizations vast historical library, as well as its large assortment of spare engine and aircraft parts available to assist in restoration projects.
With twenty active chapters across the U.S., the AAA works closely with many type clubs including the Interstate, Culver, Corben, Fairchild, Great Lakes, Pietenpol, Rearwin, Parakeet, Hataz, and Travel Air clubs. The organizations headquarters, located near Blakesburg, Iowa, at Antique Field, serves as a site for numerous type club fly-ins throughout the season. Antique Field is also the home to the Airpower Museum, Incorporated (APM). Featuring a large collection of aircraft, the facility has over 20,000 square feet of display and storage space.
Every year over Labor Day Weekend, the Antique Aircraft Association holds its annual AAA/APM Fly-In and Convention. This year, the event celebrated the early days of corporate aviation, themed as Corporate Wings. In all, over 360 aircraft, including an impressive turnout of Howard aircraft, visited Antique Field during the fly-in. Aero-TV spoke with Brent Taylor, son of Robert Taylor, about the event, the organizations history, as well as the familys continued passion for the aircraft of yesteryear.

I am asked to list a few charitable organizations (NGO’s) for a corporate doantion from my company. What are the parameters/data should I collect to verify that that donation is going in the right hands?
The organization, if it’s in the USA, should be listed at http://www.guidestar.org; if it’s not, it’s not for real. I’ve got links to other countries’ versions of guidestar at:
http://www.coyotecommunications.com/volunteer/vetting.html
The organization should also provide to you:
– the history and mission of the organization
– the financial report of its most recent fiscal year
– statistics showing how many people this organization serves, what impact they have on the community, etc.
– impact statements/testimonials about the organization’s work
– names of board members
– name and credentials of Executive Director, and other key staff as appropriate
– how the organization involves volunteers (involving volunteers shows that the organization allows members of the community to come in and see what the organization does first hand)
– letters of recommendation from OTHER organizations or city or state officials, and/or copies of newspaper articles that profile the organization’s work
– a proposal for what they want to use a donation from your company
This is all BASIC information. 90% of it are things the organization should have in hand ready to hand out at a moment’s notice. A nonprofit that doesn’t have most of these items ready for review is, IMO, not well-run.
Remember that nonprofits have to pay rent on their facilities, pay staff to do their jobs, etc. Please don’t punish an organization for having administrative costs — paying for, say, a copy machine does NOT take money away from those a charity serves. In fact, it may allow an organization to serve even more people.

If I applied to a non-profit corporation for a membership (5.00/year) and they refused my membership without giving an explanation of exactly why other than that "they believe I do not support the objectives of the society" without giving an explanation of what I have done to make them believe this.. can I take them to court using a statement of claim? Or how does one proceed?
They (CAS) also refuse to allow me to read the by-laws. I am simply an advocate who works to improve child welfare, non-violent, not aggressive but do speak to the press and to the Government regarding issues in the system.
No you can’t–it’s called freedom of association. In order to be free to associate with whom you choose, it is necessary to have the ability to exclude those with whom you do not choose to associate. One requires the other. Hence, you can still join the Boy Scouts of America, as long as you’re a boy,,,and not gay,,,or, at least, if you are gay, no one knows.
(The only exception I’ve ever heard is where the application for membership, if any, implies a promise to admit you in some way. The action is for breach of an implied promise that caused you some type of injury.)
