  • I would like to know if you can change the By Laws yearly with a Non Profit Organization?

I am the Commissioner of a non profit football organization and i would like to know if we as board members can change the by laws that are now in the by laws that say board members will stay in office for one year. we would like to change this to four years. Can we do this?

You would have to have the board members adopt a change in the bylaws by passing a resolution, which is signed by all board members (the voting party). The resolution is written and entered into the minute books which contains the articles of incorporation and bylaws, along with your non-profit corporation registration with the state. Attached is a link to a company that will do the form for you after you fill in the blanks. You will still need the signatures of the treasurer, secretary, CEO, President, etc. Basically whoever your officers of the corporation are.
