Before the summer ends, I would like to do some volunteering with organizations that do not deal with the needy. I do not want to work for the homeless, the handicap, handicap children or the elderly (handicap or not). I also hate calling folks on the phone for blood or donations. My only explanation that I can give for my avoidance is that I do not have the patience or I am afraid that I would get too concerned about there lifes. I simply do not want to get involve or make any sort of "friendships" that may carry long time commitments.
Thanks

Are you sure that you’d want to help anyone that isn’t needy, and therefore doesn’t need help? How about helping the needy by raising money, or doing something other than helping them in person? There are many opportunities to volunteer in this way- check these websites:

That’s great that you’d like to volunteer- good luck!

It’s good that you want to help, but why rule out the needy?

Volunteering generally means giving something of yourself, you don’t want to do this, so just send a check if you feel in need of making yourself feel better by helping.
I’m not sure if there is a charity for former heads of state or Enron executives, they seem to do all right taking care of themselves and charities collect for those who can’t.
Its a sad fact the rich do not need your money, the needy do.
I’m pretty sure that no one is voluntarily going to spend their last dollar to separate you from a few of yours.

Animal shelters ,Fire Dept./EMS,soup kitchens(you just prepare the food and serve it). Some Environmental agencies. I think your perspective would change if you tried. Be selfless not selfish. I would rather lay in my own poop all day then have a guy like you come by. If thats the way you feel then why bother. I don’t think you will have to worry about making any friends. Your attitude is clear and people will feel uncomfortable if you try to help them. The road to hell is full of good intentions.

There are many organizations that need your help that do not deal with needy people. You could volunteer for the local animal shelter, art museum, park clean-up committee/beautification committee, etc. You could also volunteer for a political cause that you believe in.

Volunteering by its nature is an act of caring. Volunteers help those who need their time, money, and talents.
If you don’t want to expend any caring or concern, then perhaps what you’re looking for is a summer job, not a volunteer position.

For my school, I voluttered by taking pictures of animals in local pounds and posting them on the internet, to be adopted. Around the holidays (Mainly Christian holidays because they are so commercial) they have places where you can pack baskets full of things (chocolates, toys, they supply the stuff) to be sent to needy children, so you dont have to be with them first hand. Bring a frined and talk the whole time, it is pretty easy.
